The Latvian State portal provides a single access point  for state and municipal services. Citizens are able to get the necessary information on state and local government services through one entry point and find out which of the services can be received electronically.

Citizens setting up their own profile in the portal, request and start e-services, follow the e-service performance, receive e-service results, see the message archive, if necessary, take the e-service payments.

The portal section ''Public Services Directory’' is a centralized repository of information on state and local government services and their receipt of conditions and opportunities.

Searching by keywords or by using a thematic catalogue, it is possible to find a detailed information of the service receiving location, type (in the presence and / or electronically), working hours of institutions, contact information, service fees, required documents, forms, regulatory framework.

The portal www.latvija.lv is a ‘Point of Single Contact’ for services referable to The Service Directive (Directive 2006/123/EC  of the European Parliament and of the Council on services in the internal market).

The  authorities has the possibility to use a single e-services shared platform (free of charge) that enables to use ready shared components (user authentication, payment processing, workflow management, electronic signature, audit etc. solutions) for development of electronic services and publishing in the Internet. By using these components, authorities are able to reduce significantly e-service development costs.
